How Often Should You Wash Towels?

Once a day? Once a week? Twice a week? Or? So how often should you wash your towels?

Let us share with you the problems and best cleaning practices … Read on …

Believe it or not, your bath towels are actually an IDEAL LIVING ENVIRONMENT for microscopic organisms such as bacteria and fungi. It’s pretty gross … yacks!! The water, humidity, warm air, oxygen provide an ideal living conditions for the bacteria and fungi to multiply, enabling them to make themselves at home.

You may be thinking .. yar, right, my locker laundry, I know how often I should wash my towels, but well, do you really know about the risks involved of not washing them as often?

When you dry yourself with a towel (one that is not properly cleaned), the microscopic bacteria and fungi on the towel will transfer the germs back onto your body. Eeeehhhh! And if you are sharing a hand towel or bath towel with other people in the family, the risks of transferring germs from one person to another would greatly increase. The risks range from a minor irritation of the skin to even an infection.

At My Locker Laundry, we recommend you wash your bath towels once every 3 uses; and DO NOT share your bath towel with your loved one!

Although many bath towels are designed for heavy use – they can begin to smell after just a few showers – especially when they are not properly aired. If you work out or involve in physically demand job, consider washing them even more often.

Do take note that there is a distinction – for bath towels, you want to think about towels in terms of numbers of uses, not the number of days for which you’ve used it. The reason is pretty obvious – it’s because some people shower more than once a day, whereas others may not bathe every day. So, three uses serve a good guideline.

So in summary, here are the tips:

1. For bath towels, think about in terms of number of uses, not the number of days for which you’ve used

2. Wash your bath towels once every 3 uses

3. DO NOT share your bath towel with your loved ones
