What Really Happens To Your Unclaimed Clothes?

By now, you would have read that if you don’t pick up your clothes from your personal lockers within 2 days, the lock of the unit will be changed so that other customers can use the locker, and we will store your clean clothes at our facility at no cost up to 30 days and you can text or email us at: cs@mylockerlaundry.com to schedule a delivery date.

So what happen if we still don’t receive your request within 30 days, what will happen to your unclaimed clothes?

In this situation, we will donate your clothes to the MINDS (Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore) or The Salvation Army Singapore on your behalf.

Who is MINDS?

The movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore (MINDS) was first founded in 1962 under the name of the Singapore Association for Retarded Children. In May 1962, a group of like-minded philanthropists saw the need to provide equal opportunities for children with intellectual disabilities to receive education. It grew from one centre supporting 26 children to today, serving 2,400 children from the age of six to their ripe old age. MINDS services include four special schools, three employment development centres, three day training and development centres, and one multi-service residential home.

MINDS have four thrift shops in Singapore and the services at the shop are provided by their intellectual disability customers as they help handling the job of sorting and tagging the sale items. Supporting them in donations of things, time and money help the organization to continue to support the less fortunate people in Singapore. To learn more about how you can contribute, you can find information here: http://www.minds.org.sg/Involved.html .

Who is The Salvation Army?

The Salvation Army has been helping lives in Singapore since 1935 and till today, they remain as one of the key organizations to serve the underprivileged community without discrimination. To the Salvation Army, every life is precious and they actively help those in need regardless of age, race and religion.

They lend their hand and care for those who need. As a result, they continuously need support (both financially and in kind), in order to continue to help people, inspire minds and nurture souls. To learn more how you can get more involved in supporting them, check out here:

At My Locker Laundry, we believe we need to continuously supporting the community as we are all part of the society. Therefore, for any unclaimed items for more than 30 days, we will donate them to MINDS or The Salvation Army to help the underprivileged. These two organizations were selected as they both serve a clear mission to help others, and aims to provide equal opportunities to people without discrimination. Their corporate governance is transparent and we know they are doing good. In fact, our founders have been actively contributing their time and donating things to charity organizations and one of our founder has been serving in a not-for-profit organization board since 2014. We urge you to do more to help the community.
