Three Ways My Locker Laundry Takes To Care For Our Environment

Very often, it is easy for us to get caught up in the bustle of our day and forget to look around to help those who are in need and admire the beauty of nature. It’s so important to take the time to reflect on our surroundings, as we all play an active role to be a good neighbour for one another.

At My Locker Laundry, we take a proactive approach to commit ourselves to do good. Here are 3 ways we take to care for our environment.

1. Use high-efficiency equipments

This helps save water and reduce energy consumption.

We all need to play a part to protect our environment. By using high-efficiency equipments in our dry cleaning process, we help to save water consumption. In addition, these high-efficiency equipments are also better in their quality of cleaning and reducing the time taken for the entire process. This simple but important step uses less electricity and helps to reduce our carbon emissions.

2. Collect used clothing donations

This helps to support many not-for-profit organizations in their mission

More than 156,000 tonnes of textile and leather wear were thrown away by Singaporean in 2015. However, only 8% of such waste was recycled, leaving 90 over percentage of clothes become waste.

One of the observations we noticed is that it is not because there is a lack of charity organizations, but many Singaporean find it troublesome and time consuming to bring their used clothes to these organizations, and some of them simply buy a lot more than they truly need.

Instead of throwing the unwanted clothes away, you can donate them with My Locker Laundry. Simply put your clothes in one of the lockers, lock it with your personalized pin, and SMS us the locker number and add a note says “for charity”, we will donate the clothes to MINDS and the Salvation Army on your behalf.

3. Recycle old hangers

Let’s reduce waste and the use of plastic

If you dry clean your clothes regularly, you likely have an excess amount of hangers lying around as every piece of your cleaned item come with a new plastic hanger. We know that using these items as our method of returning your cleaned clothes is not ideal, and we are working hard to find an environmental friendly and long term solution. In the meantime, we want to do our part to make sure that recycling these hangers is as easy as possible.

When you find that you have excess hangers, simply place them with your dirty garments in the lockers, we will pick up the old hangers that you may have, clean them and recycle these hangers on your behalf.
